"Bitter" is a song about aging. Not just in a physical manner, but also in an emotional and mental manner as well. The passing of time comes with a lot of baggage that can cause one to be very unhappy with the the state their life has ended up in.

Life doesn't pan out how you planned it and it doesn't come easy, either. You have dreams and so many big aspirations in your youth that often get washed away by time itself.

This is a song about coping with that and feeling like giving up is the only feasible option you have.
